Richmond, Virginia based interdisciplinary artist, Kaay Taurus began her musical journey at 12. Her love for music, keen ear, and curiosity led her to obtain a Bachelor of Science degree in Sound Engineering and Music Composition. 

Influenced by iconic favorites such as Anita Baker, Amy Winehouse, Jaco Pastorious, Jill Scott, Ryan Leslie, J Dilla, Chick Corea, Lady Gaga, Faith Evans, and Pharrell; She shapes her personal sound  through blends of Soul, Jazz, Hip Hop and R&B. Smooth riffs and gospel harmonies with just enough rasp creates a unique sound that heals. Feeling both new and familiar. 

In February 2022, she made her debut with single “TLC,” followed by “Tolls” the following summer. Deeply ingrained in the ethos of the underground Richmond music scene; Her voice illustrates tracks with artists Skinnyy Hendrix, BaeGod, Sycho Sid, Chef Boy, Fuggin Doe, Big  B and more. Her recent work details collaborations with Grammy nominated Rapper and Engineer, Michael Millions, Mad Skillz, and other musicians that continue to push Black music forward.

Experimental sound across genres is what makes Kaay both soulful, youthful, technical and dynamic. Most recently, she produced “Sugarland” for Newport News recording artist, Chandler. Released in August 2025 their track is performing at just over 35,000 streams on Spotify alone. 

Kaay Taurus closed out 2025 with holiday performances. Including opening for recording artist, Avery Wilson. New projects, such as assembling a band and thoughtful joy-driven collaborations are her primary focus with the coming of the New Year.
